Jumat siang, 17 Maret 2006,dengan sangat tergesa ku tinggalkan meja kerjaku menuju hotel Hilton, jakaRta. berbekal nekad dan info dari Triwik-rekan NOVA- yang mengabarkan sebuah press conference segera digelar, ku cari taksi utk segera menge-GAS mobil birunya menuju kawasan SEnayan. diliputi perasaan was-was, aku cuma bisa berharap pada sebuah keberuntungan yang nampaknya cuma ada di hari itu saja. pikirku kalau aku benar-benar beruntung hari itu, aku bisa mendapatkan ID liputan konser LIonEL RICHIE malam ini. tapi kalau tidak..ya apa mau dikata..at least aku berusaha !
setibanya di ruang Libra HOtel Hilton, press conf belum dimulai ...setelah mendaftar ke panitia penyelenggara-Prisma-yang khusus menangani urusa dengan media massa, dengan rasa tak sabar..aku menunggu kedatangan The LegendarY Lionel RicHie hadir ke ruangan itu...15 menit kemudian...akhirnya dia tiba dengan senyum yang sangat lebar yang diwarnai dengan tepuk tangan meriah dan teriakan-teriakan histeris para pemujanya...Ruang Libra itu pun lantas jadi begitu semarak dan hangat...penuh kilat flash para fotografer dan fans2nya termasuk aku..hehehehe...
selanjutnya tiba pada sesi tanya jawab yang dipandu Daniel Tumiwa..ada sekitar 6-8 wartawan yang dberi kesempatan utk itu...tapi tidak termasuk aku..huhuhu..padahal aku sudah bela2in ngacung-ngacung terus dan duduk ngegelosor di depan podium persis....hiks..mana sebagian besar pertanyaan yang mereka ajukan sangat tidak penting buatku..masak mereka cuma pada nanya bagaimana kamu memilih baju untuk konser ? bagaimana kamu menjaga penampilan dan sejenisnya ? Untung aja ada yang nanya satu pertanyaanku. "apa yang membuat kamu mau konser di Jakarta-Indonesia ?"
Lionel bilang ga ada alasan ga konser di sini. masyarakat disini fantastik kok ! kalau ada berita ada wilayah disini yang ga aman..kan ga berarti smua wilayah di sebuah negara juga ga aman kan ? HORE !!!! welldone ! open minded juga bapak tiga anak berusia 57 thn ini. dia juga kelihatan sangat ramah, suka bercanda dan sederhana dalam press conf itu...aduh..aku jadi tambah suka deh...hehehehe..
suasana yang hangat selama press conf sayangnya ga bertahan lama...Lionel digiring keluar pengawalnya entah kemana. panitia pun mengumumkan nama2 wartawan yang berhak mendapat ID peliputan yang dijatah 300 buah saja ! antara pesimis dan faktor hoki, dan terjebak dalam pergelutan dan gaharnya rekan2 infotainment dengan panitia...selembar ID itu berhasil ku peroleh....HallEluYa !!! ALhamDulilLaH !!! PUji TUhan ! Dahsyat ! hari itu memang benar-benar diliputi keberuntungan..hahahaha...
sesegera mungkin ku tinggalkan kawasan SEnayan menuju Utan KaYu..demi sebuah guyuran air di tubuh penambah kesegaran dan kesempatan berganti "kostum khusus" guna menepati ketentuan wajib meliput acara malam itu..
buat ku itu aneh...seperti jaman orba saja...apa-apa harus seragam...sama...emang ID aja ga cukup apa yak ? plis deh...mending kalo bagus design and bahannya..ga banget deh...udah mana bebrbahan kasar seperti karung atau handuk berkualitas rendah...designnya sangat ga ngetrend pun ukurannya terlalu jumbo utk makhluk sepertiku..hiks...
usai ber"kostum
khusus"..aku segera bergegas lagi menuju JCC guna melihat penampilan "the LEgend LIonel RichiE " !!! sayang perjalananku tak berjalan mulus...kemacetan seketika mewarnai jalan menuju kawasan JCC..tapi hal itu bisa ku maklumi...yang paling mengesalkan adalah ulah sang pejabat yang juga berniat nonton konser yang memanfaatkan rombongan mobil dan motor pengawalnya guna memecah kemacetan ! HUH ! Dasar ! sok kuasa ! mau menang sendiri ! sebal !!!!!
akhirnya pilihan berjalan kaki harus diambil demi mengejar sebuah janji untuk hadir disana 30 menit sebelum konser dimulai. tapi rupanya penonton disini masih saja punya perilaku tak tertib. selalu saja telat hadir. bahkan ketika Lionel Richie sudah memainkan lagu yang ke delapan, masih saja ada penonton yang baru datang. aduh..aduh...aduh....
secara keseluruhan..konser berjalan cukup meriah..thanks 2 Lionel Richie yang punya sejuta charm dan berhasil bikin suasana lebih hidup dengan suara-banyak guyon dan sedikit aksi panggungnya...meski lumayan gaek..dia lumayan enerjik juga tuh !dari sekitar 12 lagu yang dia mainkan...lagu EASY paling asik dan unik buatku...lagu ini dikemas dengan versi baru yang unik. Easy diaransemen dengan campuran irama reggae..dahsyat lah !!! 
sayang...apa yang disiapkan panitia-Buena Productions-kelewat sederhana buat seorang LIONEL RICHIE yang sudah besar di tahun 80-an ! tata panggung dan pencahayaan sangat biasa. bahkan audience seat lay out-nya tidak proper ! semuanya diisi kursi demi 3.500 tiket yang ludes dan walhasil cuma berjarak kurang dua meter dari panggung !
yang lebih memprihatinkan lagi...adalah respon penonton yang duduk manis dengan musik dan suguhan lagu yang diyanyikan LIONEL...ugh benci banget aku...ini mah ga have fun atuh...yang aku lihat cuma dua orang perempuan bule yang pilih meninggalkan kursi mereka lalu berdiri di lorong demi dapat bergoyang di setiap lagu yang diyanyikan Lionel.
untung Lionel seorang entertainer yang baik..so dengan gaya sok galak..dia bikin 3 aturan dlm konser yang semula diprotes penontonnya. 1. berdansa lah kalo kamu ingin berdansa 2. bernyanyilah jika kamu ingin bernyanyi 3.konser berjalan habis-habisan.
aturan Lionel sukses juga akhirnya. di lagu ke tujuh berjudul "Dancing"..akhirnya semua penonton berdiri dari kursinya dan bergoyang mengikuti irama lagu itu....dan ini berlanjut sampai lagu penutup "All Night LOng"....yang ga really all night long sih sebenarnya..jam 10.30 dah kelar euy...
tapi gapapa deh...at least gw punya kesempatan buat jadi saksi hidup konser LIONEL RICHIE di Jakarta...tinggal tunggu satu atau dua tahun ke depan deh. will Lionel Richie keep his word to come back here ?....we'll see.....

Grammy Voters Lavish U2, Green Day Again

Wednesday, U2 won five including best album and song of the year, while Green Day took home the award for record of the year. Neither had released any new music since last year.
"This record has been out for two years, or almost two years," he said, accepting the Grammy for record of the year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," off the "American Dream" album.
The reruns are all about timing.
The Grammy eligibility window runs from Oct. 1 to the following Sept. 30. Both U2 and Green Day released their albums and songs from them on both sides of the deadlines.
U2's "Vertigo" was released as a single months ahead of the album, making it eligible for the 2005 awards. The album was released later, putting it in the running for 2006.
Green Day did the opposite, releasing "American Idiot" in time for 2005 eligibility, while holding back the "Broken Dreams" single, making it eligible for this year.
Music success is often spread out this way, over months of various chart-topping singles and continued album sales.

The Grammys couldn't quit U2 and Green Day, and that helped derail the culmination of what was 2005's biggest music story:
Nominated for eight Grammys, Carey took home three, but zero during the televised award show and none in the biggest categories. Still, her album, "Emancipation of Mimi," was the best-selling disc of the year. "Three out of eight is not bad," said "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson about Carey's losses. "It's the way things happen." Julie Dam, music editor at People magazine, was surprised Carey didn't do better, especially considering she "did all the right things" to please Grammy voters — like help present the nominations in December. "Leading up to the Grammys, it felt like the Academy was really embracing her ... they love a comeback story," Dam said. "I think the feeling was the R&B vote was split between Kanye (West) and Mariah and John Legend." Carey had won only two Grammys previously, both in 1990, for best new artist and best female pop vocal performance for "Vision of Love." "The fact that she won any at all (this year) was a small victory," Dam said. "You don't really begrudge U2 winning because it was a great album."
Green Day singer Billy Joe Armstrong seemed embarrassed to win.

ACEH PROVINCE, INDONESIA - December 6, 2005 March 2005: Children sit in a makeshift village school on Aceh’s battered western coast. A 12-year-old boy stands up and sings his “tsunami song.” In a soft and gentle voice he sings about the wave that swept away his village, separated mothers from children and “left nothing behind.” It’s very sad at first. But he ends with the thought that everyone who died is in a peaceful place, and it’s time for all who are suffering to help each other.
That young boy was Nasir, and his song is still helping him and his friends express how they felt during the tsunami. “I never get tired of hearing it,” says Nasir today. “My friends like to sing it and they are proud of me. They know that I helped to write it with my uncle.”

Nasir and his family currently live in the Padang Rumbek temporary living center, near Meulaboh. The houses in their village are still being rebuilt, so they stay here where they have access to a well for clean water and good sanitation facilities.
Nasir says living at the center is “different to home, and not as nice because there aren’t so many people.” But one thing he does enjoy about it is the child friendly space organized and supported by the International Rescue Committee (IRC).
The space is somewhere that children can play and learn with their friends in a safe environment, either before or after school. Children can simply be children — a luxury for many youngsters who have witnessed the devastations caused by last December’s tsunami and the 30-year long conflict in Aceh.
Nasir describes the space as “extra school”. He says: “I really like coming here with all the other children. There are plenty of activities for us to do, like math and drawing.”
“If I remember the tsunami, I still feel sad,” he admits. “But it doesn’t disturb me any more. I can cope. My wish now is that my family can live in peace, in good conditions, and with a regular source of money.”
Nasir’s elder brother Chaidir is one of the community members who help to run the space, thanks to training and support from the IRC. He’s noticed great progress in children like Nasir. “At first, even a slight rain shower would panic them,” he explains. “They would run home to be with their family. Now look at them — there’s a big storm going on outside and they’re playing happily. They haven’t even noticed it’s raining.”
Nasir clearly wants to follow in his brother’s footsteps. He says his ambition is to become a teacher when he grows up, so he can help children learn. “I will remember what I have learned here at my extra school,” says Nasir, “and I can pass it on to others.”
